Design Image:

a simple side table, cut from from various low VOC sheet goods with a cnc router. shown here using fine strand OSB and pressed hardboard for visual texture and contrast, also assuming the proper sources, the materials could have a high post-industral/consumer material content. the digital design could be infinitely scaled up or down, proportionally or non-proportionally, for various uses. the center is a molded cork insert that could be a candy dish or a built in coaster, it too being scalable.

this piece is challenging
this piece is challenging the idea of what "finished" is through material use. the finish of the materials in this particular example is buthcer's wax over a 400 grit sanding job. it may not appear so, but the surface is glass smooth.
I like that you have
I like that you have challenged the idea of what finished is, though I’m still having trouble seeing past the fact that it is pressed particle board and I perceive particle board as a construction material. Is there a way to push this design further in order to convince an audience that particle board can be more than a construction material and in fact serve as a “highend” material? Did you experiment with other finishes? If so, what were your results and how did you choose to pursue the butchers wax?
p.s. I also like the idea
p.s. I also like the idea of having legs that could stay the same while the size of the table surface and cork insert could change in proportion based on the customers needs.
I agree that not having the
I agree that not having the table look like it's covered in cat barf is a step upward.

I could see some interesting
I could see some interesting and refined surface finishes using bamboo products as well. Cool design
