Drape chair

Perforated and laser cut steel is draped over simple CNC routed furniture structures. Seats are designed for flat pack and user assembly. Chair and bench use the same wood skeleton design. Users can customize color and lengths. Additionally, customers can create personal "engravings" by having their marks laser cut into the steel, similar to engraving on a wooden park bench (fig.1).

Nice color choice, but cheap looking product. Ho-hum. And I find the engravable "customization" factor to be ridiculous as well as the sentiment it claims to imitate. In fact, I'd say the premeditation of the act invalidates the sentiment it intends to express. Bleh.
you mention that the
you mention that the customer could "customize color and lengths" though i think this design has potential for the customer to design even more than just those elements. for instance the frame underneath and the contour of the metal sheet could be designed by the customer as well. i think this is a very neat idea and you could push it even further into the realm of mass customization.

It is so boring - it looks exactly 5 other pieces I have seen on ths site. It is a fabulous idea but I think you could push it past the boxy minimal aesthetic.
