The Flat-fold Desk is made of Baltic birch plywood and a laminate top. The shapes are cut with a CNC router and the desk can be made entirely out of two 5'x5'x5/8" sheets of plywood. Hinges are used on the top and the legs enabling the desk to be folded flat. A slot is cut in the top for cable management and as a handhold for carrying.

5 x 5 is better suited for

5 x 5 is better suited for the metric system (mm, etc) - standard European set ups are on 32mm systems..this makes their cabinet base systems on variables of 15", 30" etc unlike the US system which uses, 12", 24" etc, hence the 4 x 8 standard we're used to. Not to mention that the growth cycle of a birch tree allows 5' to be used most effectively, thereby maximizing material.

I dig the wheel idea mentioned, but they'd need to be locked when stationary.

Nice clean design and it

Nice clean design and it should be very sturdy with that layout but does plywood come in 5x5 or 5x10 sheets? It's also going to be pretty heavy. More material could be removed without sacrificing strength. Or... if 8 aircraft style lightening holes were cut from the legs, the resulting circles could them be applied to both sides of each leg as wheels. The table would then roll nicely when folded and be easy to move around the room when set up and lifted from the back side. That would change my rating from a 4 to a 5.

high cabinet grade baltic

high cabinet grade baltic birch plywood does indeed come in 5x5 sheets. i have no idea why, but it does.
