In this mass customized furniture, the assembly is simple and easy. The parts simply slide into place using a dovetail groove to provide the best attachment possible. The dovetails are not covered up, they are shown on the end of the parts. This is done to show off the craftsmanship and quality that a dovetail stands for. Beyond the assembly and joints, the Keyway's dimensions are scalable to accommodate any need. Also, the main key, in the center of the table holding the legs in, can be changed out to fit different needs. You could have a raised key, to serve as a serving shelf; or it could be recessed from the table surface to create pockets; it could possibly even be a different material or combination of materials. The legs of the tables and chairs have a customizable insert, as well. It could be marbled wood, brushed metal, or even a piece of clear plastic with fibers or bamboo infused into it. The key and inserts offer the customized touch that makes this table stand apart from other scalable furniture, further enhancing the uniqueness of their furniture while still being mass produced.

on the one hand some

on the one hand some designers are being praised for their use of scrap materials (http://www.scrapile.com/), on the other I think the interlocking of materials with the nice dovetail detail to be rather visually and emotionally pleasing...and i know many a woodworker who would agree.

with each "customization"

with each "customization" option offered, the chair only gets uglier and uglier. with such a simple idea, your only saving grace would be if the options were visually appealing and not so homemade looking. i mean, come on. it's a rendering. it shouldn't look like your only available materials are from the scrap bin.

is this in reference to the

is this in reference to the design or the materials used?
